What Does the Intervention Resource Center (IRC) Do?
The IRC is a young (1998) not-for- profit organization. Our daily efforts are focused on helping alcoholics
and other drug addicted persons, and their families and employers, overcome the pain and economic costs
associated with the abuser's undesirable behavior. One out of every four American adults is painfully affected
on a daily basis by the alcoholism or drug addiction of someone they love.
We strongly encourage Addiction Intervention, a highly successful process for motivating alcoholics and other
substance abusers and their families to accept help. Intervention is an objective, caring, and non-judgmental
process. In it, the abuser is brought face to face with the reality of his or her actions by those who are
adversely affected by them. The objective is to motivate the abuser to begin the recovery process. Properly
planned and implemented, Addiction Intervention prompts a very high percentage of abusers to accept help.
Without it, less than 10% enter treatment each year.
